NH Parade of Homes Committee 2013 ~ Lakes Region Homebuilders and Remodelers Association
I joined the Lakes Region Homebuilders and Remodelers Association in May of 2013. When joining a new volunteer group, the easiest way I meet people is by getting involved. So, I volunteered at this, my very first meeting of the LRBRA, to be a committee member helping to organize this year’s NH Parade of Homes (www.nhparadeofhomes.com) over last Columbus Day Weekend.
The NH Parade of Homes project offers local builders and remodelers the opportunity to enter a special home they’ve built which showcases their talents and those of their subcontractors. Secondwind Water Systems is one of these subcontractors who support the builders. The LRBRA has organized and presented the NH Parade of Homes project in 2012 and in 2013.
Over the Columbus Day weekend, this year’s Parade showcased 6 builders and 7 homes in the Lakes Region. The LRBRA itself also had a home to showcase. Through the combined volunteer efforts of the LRBRA homebuilder and subcontractor members, we collectively built, painted, furnished and decorated, “The Children’s Charity House,” 190 Turner Way, in Laconia. This is the first project of its kind in the state of NH. Its sale will generate approximately $40K for the WLNH Children’s Auction on December 12, 2013. More about this special project soon!
The NH Parade of Homes event was a remarkable community experience for so many reasons. But when I reflect back on my personal time and attention spent, I appreciate the bigger picture. The culmination of charitable efforts and ideas created a special NH Parade of Homes event this year that will offer opportunities to the children of Laconia that is unprecedented. I will remember this organization’s accomplishments as one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve ever been a part of. It feels good to have made a difference and that is what Secondwind Water Systems encourages us all to do.
