Meet Secondwind’s Field Operations Manager, Chris Vaughn
Secondwind Water System’s core values include “Driven to Excellence,” “Be Part of the Solution,” and “Teamwork.” Our Field Operations Manager, Christopher Vaughn, lives these core values in all aspects of his life. Chris worked his way from technician up to Field Operations Manager over the last ten years. A natural born coach at work and on the field makes Chris an invaluable member of our Secondwind team.
Exemplary Employee And Natural Leader
Ernie Gauvin, Secondwind’s Operations Manager, describes an exemplary employee as someone whose attitude and performance set examples for others in the company. Also, someone able to influence others with his or her work ethic. In his mind, this clearly applies to Chris. “Whenever you work with Chris you never feel alone. He works with you to provide you with the confidence that ensures success at the end of the day. He truly has your back all the time,” Gauvin reflects.
Public Water Supply Specialist Rich Laughton, who has been mentored by Chris over the last few years, describes Chris as “a natural leader, inherently positive, analytical and detail oriented.”
“Chris is a natural born leader and coach inside and out. He helped coach the Bow Falcons high school baseball team to state champions this year. These qualities are shown at the office and in the field every day,” comments Mel Leroux, Secondwind’s Marketing Manager. Years of coaching experience and playing on athletic teams now helps Chris manage a team of thirteen Secondwinders out in the field every day.
Committed to Education and Continued Growth
Steve Guercia, Commercial and Public Water Supply Manager has worked with and mentored Chris since he came to Secondwind. “I watched Chris grow from someone that saw his role to be filling sample bottles to owning systems like his family was drinking the water,” he comments. He goes on to say that “Our Public Water Supplies are genuinely “his” sites. Some of our most loyal and committed Public Water Systems customers are those that have had problems and have seen Chris do what he does so well. They witnessed the value Chris brings.” Chris graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2008 with a B.A. in Earth Sciences bringing that knowledge to Secondwind. He joined the company right out of college. It’s been a natural progression from technician to public water system sampling, to management of public water supplies. He gained specific expertise in this area and eventually managed our Public Water Supply group for four years. He just keeps growing, asking for and taking on more responsibility.
A Head for Business
An amazing head for business is also something that Chris brings to Secondwind. As part of our expanded leadership team he brings a lot to the table. As Secondwind President and Co-Owner comments, “Early on I would find myself impressed by his insights, by the business-like, problem-solving attitude he demonstrated. Then and now he is extremely notable in meetings and has a great deal to contribute.”
Almost a year ago Chris became Field Operations Manager and is already leaving his mark. And as Steve Guercia says, “Nine months into his new role and he keeps telling me he is still having fun every time I ask!”
Thank you, Chris, for all you offer Secondwind and our customers!
