Results of a USGS survey have just been released, confirming that arsenic is present in low levels in at least 20% of private wells in NH. Highlights of the survey were discussed in a recent radio broadcast I heard on New Hampshire Public Radio.
The story answers why arsenic is found in higher concentrations is certain regions of the country, explains the presence of arsenic in certain foods and emphasizes concerns about long term, repeated exposure to the contaminant.
The link also includes a map that has proven to be an interesting resource for many of my customers as they learn about regional differences and some of the unique properties of our NH water.
