Pure Water Systems Key To Hospital & Clinic Central Sterile Services Departments
Secondwind has a number of hospitals & clinic customers that find it more sustainable to have their own Central Sterile Services (CSS) Dept. where they can reprocess, clean, disinfect, and sterilize Re-usable Medical Equipment (RME). Many types of these sterile washers & decontamination equipment require pure water systems and quality to feed the units so as not to impart any unwanted residuals on the surgical instruments they wash/sterilize as well as to protect washing equip internals. This is critical to health and wellbeing of patients.
Water quality requirements vary depending on the type of washer/sterilizer, manufacturer, and application. Some requirements are satisfied with Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, some require De-Ionization (DI) of the water as well. We have done RO/DI pure water systems for water quality and volumes ranging from 10 gallons per day (gpd) to over 3,000 gpd. Most pure water systems require plastic or stainless steel piping as the product water can be considered corrosive. This is why most washers/sterilizers and RMEs are constructed of stainless steel.
