What Is Reverse Osmosis and How Does It Work?

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water filtration process that uses water pressure to push water through a semi-permeable membrane, reducing a wide range of dissolved minerals, impurities and contaminants.

The filtered water is then stored and ready when you need it, with additional filtration before it reaches your faucet. The result is clean, clear, great-tasting water for drinking, cooking, coffee, ice and more.

As we continue to learn more about what’s in our water, many homeowners are looking for an additional level of protection for the water they drink every day. The EPA regulates more than 90 contaminants in public drinking water, but some homeowners prefer to further reduce certain contaminants — even when their water meets established drinking water standards.

Reverse osmosis provides an effective option for both city and well water and can be customized based on your home’s specific water quality.
